I am wildly impressed with Kirsty McKay's novel "The Assassin Game". She took us to a place a lot of us have never had the chance to go and told us a story that kept us on the edge of our seats. The story follows Cate as she embarks on a game at her boarding school called "Killer". Kids spend years hoping to be picked for the game.

The Assassin Game by Kirsty McKay. Genre: YA Thriller. Since starting at Umfraville three years ago, Cate has wanted nothing more than to join the Assassins’ Guild, the school’s secret society. For non-Guild, life at Umfraville feels like a prison sentence. The school is located on Skola, a tiny island off the coast of Wales, where the quirky principal, Ezra, has limited the students’ internet access and banned phones. It was just a game until it wasn't. Will Cate discover the assassin before it's too late? Perfect for fans of teen mystery books!TAG. You're It At Cate's isolated boarding school Killer is more than a game#;it's an elite secret society. Members must avoid being "killed". The Assassin Game is my first time reading a book by Kirsty McKay and while it wasn’t all I had hoped for, it was enough to get me to check out some of her other books. Pros: Mystery: There were times when I totally thought about setting aside The Assassin Game and adding it to my short list of DNFs. I admit, there were times when I was just plain bored.
